Federal Investor Program (IIVC)

Background

The IIVC pilot was launched by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as an alternative to the former Federal Investor Program, which was terminated in 2014. The pilot required applicants to make a non-guaranteed investment of CDN$2 million in a venture capital fund for approximately 15 years, with a minimum personal net worth of CDN$10 million. Applicants also needed to demonstrate English or French language skills and at least one year of post-secondary education.

The pilot was limited to 60 applications per intake and ultimately did not attract sufficient interest. IRCC has not announced any plans to revive this program.
