Intra-Company transfer allows international companies, who either currently have an established branch in Canada or who plan to establish a new business in Canada, to temporarily transfer senior executives, managers or employees with specialized knowledge to their location in Canada.
Qualified intra-company transferee require work permits and are exempted from the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) as they provide significant economic benefit to Canada. This applies to foreign nationals from any country, including under the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS)
Citizens of certain countries may also require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) and an immigration medical examination as part of the work permit application process.
