Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada can bring their parents or grandparents to live permanently in Canada.
There are certain requirements for both sponsors and parents/grandparents.
The Parents and Grandparents Program uses an interest-to-sponsor process. Potential sponsors submit an interest-to-sponsor form, and IRCC periodically invites selected sponsors to submit a full application. The number of invitations and timing varies each year, so it is important to submit your interest form as early as possible.
Parents and grandparents must pass medical, criminal, and background checks to be eligible for permanent residence.
If you are unable to sponsor your parents or grandparents through this program, the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa allows them to visit and stay in Canada for up to 2 years at a time, with a visa valid for up to 10 years.
